Abstract

As is generally recognized, Congress recently enacted the Goldwater­Nichols Defense Reorganization Act of 1986 to improve the fighting efficiency and effectiveness of the Department of Defense. A responsibility to carry forward the spirit of "jointness" falls squarely on the shoulders of the senior service colleges as they seek to educate officers for positions of high command and responsibility.
