Abstract

The U.S. Marine Corps concept for the projection of naval power ashore is known as "Operational Maneuver from the Sea," or OMFTS. Like the Navy-Marine Corps white paper "Forward... from the Sea," it emphasizes the world's littoral regions as areas of potential conflict, and in turn the role of naval expeditionary forces in such conflicts.
