Abstract

On November 2-3, 2012, the U.S. Naval War College’s Assist and Assess Team conducted a tailored assist visit (TAV), for the combined C4F, NIOC Norfolk, and USSOUTHCOM RESETs, at Naval Station Mayport Florida. The scenario required the training audience to respond to a fictional Foreign Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Response scenario designed around the historical 1998 Hurricane Mitch landfall in Honduras. The training focused on emphasizing the use of the NPP for multiple Operational Planning Teams (OPTs), and senior leadership. This included substantial and direct support by RDML Jon “Mickey Matheson” acting as the JFMCC commander.
