Abstract
This article highlights how a tactical capability can be used to generate non-lethal effects. While employing B-52s in different tactical ways to influence adversaries has direct first order effects, there may be larger indirect effects to consider. The second order effects that influence the operational level of war pertain to the employment of these weapons to enhance operational maneuver and protection, as well as serving as a deterrent by virtue of their flight path or even their operational positioning.
