Abstract

Although it is not necessary for our purposes to go back to the earliest times which have been mentioned, it is impossible to understand properly the realities of the present and the pos­sibilities of the future expansion and decline of the English and Dutch East India Companies, and the second extends from that point into the twentieth century.
