Abstract
Following his recent tour to South America, Adlai Stevenson described the economic and social problems that he encountered as ''staggering,'' With the establishment of a framework for a new economic and social Alliance for Progress at Punta del Este, Uruguay, in August of 1961, these staggering problems have become challenges to the inter-American community.
