Naval War College Review
Abstract
England, the United States, France, Holland, Norway, and Italy are among the countries which have achieved a certain prominence on the sea at one time or another in their historical development. Each of these countries proudly recalls a naval history which bespeaks the significant success of their mariners in peace and war.
