Naval War College Review
Abstract
The phasing out of British naval forces cast of the Suez has been the topic of untold article, while the prospect of eliminating its attack carrier capability in the Eastern Atlantic in the early 1970's is going virtually unnoticed. This is difficult to understand when one considers that the British carriers are the only forces that could provide organic naval air support to EASTLANT maritime contingencies on short notice.
