Abstract
One of these new ship types, the battle cruiser, was often misemployed during its career and, as a result, gained an undeserved reputation as a poor warship design. Its misuse was the result of a failure of communication between Sir John Fisher and the officers who decided where and how the battle cruiser would be used.
