Abstract
The problems of formulating effective concepts for managing states' offshore claims and competences is well appreciated by the international community. Hopefully, the United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea, scheduled to meet in Geneva in the summer of 1973, will materially contribute to both international understanding and the development of a body of law that can effectively deal with offshore claims.
