Abstract
War is not a game of chance, as so often asserted. The saying is true only when the game is undertaken by those unprepared for it by previous study. 1 At the firing of the first gun proclaiming war, the so-called "inspiration of genius" must be trusted only when it is the result of long and careful study and reflection. 2
