Abstract

Examining trends in the global security environment and the ways in which the U.S. military has organized to deal with past challenges provides the foundation for understanding the implications for America’s armed forces today, as we transform our military into one that is ready to provide effective missile defense, information operations, space operations, and other capabilities that do not respect our traditional regional boundaries.
