Abstract
The landscape of modern warfare is one of constant metamorphosis caused by a variety of factors, from technological advancement to shifting combat terrains. The Royal Navy’s experience with German airpower while enforcing nonintervention during the Spanish Civil War set uneven expectations for the role of naval airpower in the war to come.
