In 1984, the Naval War College published the first edition of Sailors and Scholars: The Centennial History of the U.S. Naval War College. This 2025 revised and expanded Sailors and Scholars updates the original and illuminates the College's more recent history. Its two volumes aim to chronicle the major developments at the College and their impact on the Navy while bringing light to other, lesser-known aspects of the College’s and the Navy’s history.
