Description
Letter from Newton E. Mason, Chief of Bureau of Ordnance, to the Torpedo Station, describes the numbering schema for torpedoes and air compressors. It was at this time that the Bureau “decided to give all torpedoes an Ordnance Number and a Mark...so that no two torpedoes can have the same number.”
