Abstract

We are on the verge of a critical quarter-century in population, energy, pollution, and recycling. Whether the forecasts of the pessimists or optimists are right—bringing man and his physical environment into reasonable harmony—will hinge upon man's wise use of technology, his will to survive, and his latent sense of connection with his fellow men.
