An old picture of an old ship, the U.S.S. Barney (DDG 6), commissioned in 1962 and photographed at sea in 1977. The photograph reminds us that, whether in the Philippine, the Arabian, or the Norwegian Sea, the ordinary work of men in ships is usually uncomfortable, often difficult, and sometimes dangerous.
