Naval War College Review

Volume 52, Number 4 (1999) Autumn

An A-6 of Attack Squadron 52 makes its final approach to the USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) in the Gulf of Tonkin in 1972—the bombardier-navigator's view, looking past the distinctive A-6 air-to-air-refueling probe. The picture was taken by Fred House, today a professional photographer in Anacortes, Washington, but then a lieutenant, U.S. Navy, flying with VA 52 (the "Knightriders").
